Help Wanted clippingApplying for an Iowa Workforce Development job requires registration with an Iowa Workforce Development Center. If you are an Iowa resident living in Iowa, one is probably near you, and you are asked to register in person. The application process is explained below.

Many of Iowa Workforce Development's online services require creating an individual user account. Future enhancements of online services will also require the use of an Iowa Workforce Development user account. Create a new user account here!

A user account is no longer needed to view unsuppressed job orders that contain company details. However, a user account is still required to apply for an unemployment insurance claim or to register for work.

Residency:

If you are a resident of Iowa, you may apply to any Iowa Workforce Development Centers.

Applicants from outside of Iowa should contact the Workforce Development Center shown in the job description.

Personal Information:

The following personal information will be needed for registration:
Your name, complete address, date of birth, gender, years of education, phone, and Social Security Number. Military information including branch, grade, type of discharge, date of entry, date of separation, number days of active duty & M.O.S. Code.

Job Information:

The Seven Digit Iowa Job Order Number and the Occupational Title (since IWD lists thousands of jobs you must use the Job Order Number)

You may be contacted by an Iowa Workforce Development Center for more information (if necessary) to complete your registration.

The Workforce Development Center interviewers process your application when you apply for a job. After the interviewer forwards your application to the employer, any further contact to you would come (normally) to you from the employer.

If you create a user account and log in, you may discover that the job order is an "apply direct" order. In that instance you would follow the application instructions provided by the employer. Usually you can submit a résumé by email or fax. Sometimes the employer has a Web Site where you can apply online.

Please Note:

This page explains how to apply for jobs listed in the IowaJobs system. For other jobs such as those listed with the Iowa Department of Personnel (state government jobs), or Iowa Department of Public Safety, please follow their instructions for applying.
